that-for-a number of years, water has been diverted from certain tributaries
on upper Strawberry creek, within the Indian Reservation, carried

capacity of 200 minersSS inches; that its probable cost was
£12,000; that it is in fairly good condition, that "willow Creek ditch
will carry about 60 miners' inches, that it is 7 miles long and cost
not less than £15,000; that it has a tunnel 1000 feet long which is
considerably out of repair at the present time; that it will cost about
$3000, to put it in good condition, that the Hobble Creek ditch is a
good cheap one and in good repair, being about two miles in length with
an estimated capacity of 50 miners! .inches. In view of the statements
made by lar.Babb, you will investigate as to the authority or pretended
authority under which these ditches were constructed upo.-_ the reservation.
Von will report whether the water diverted in the mariner indicated
is a detriment to the Indians now or is lir-rely in your opinion
to be so in the future; whether in your judgment these ditches upon the
reservation should be allowed to remain open and diversion of water
