If Capt. Johnson criticizes cur -hLlotnant of IviSs
to Indians his action is at variance with hi:: o;:preB£3d
opinion whils \^ro. Indian" mc;:itiorod in your telegrajn
received absolutely fair treatment as wac The case with all
Indians. In somo canes Indiana lost very email portions of
cultivated land owiv.g to imps nr.i.: ill ty of making allotments'
by meoets and bounds. Y/hore Indians claimed mere than their
share of land, remainder of laud if good was allot!nd to other
Indians, chiefly relatives. I an ready to refute ?.nd dis
•opove any statement that injustice wag don? to Indiann by
Allotting Commission and only desire opportunity o'c do L;O.
Capt. -Tohneon's information was largely based on
council hero with Indians in hr'.nb complaints were iurti- -
gated by a former discharged employee with whom yen arc
familiar. Request. that yon insist on fair treatment for
members of Commission. I do net think Secretary or Ccjshlsfcione
will stand for a one sided investigation.
