Description Photo by Frank A. Beckwith. Elephant Arch. The mama elephant escorts her punk, who sedately follows the downcast eyes. An un-retouched photograph taken at the Arches National Monument, Moab, Grand County, Utah. The remarkable resemblance is a mass of red sandstone, 125 feet high, with an arch seen starting to erode between the front and rear legs; the trunk of the she-elephant (in the lead) is partly eroded clear through, and its contour can be followed easily its full length. The punk in the rear is a trifle smaller in size. The photo is taken from a cave-mouth opposite at a height of between sixty and eighty feet
