There may be a temporary service outage on our Digital Library (non-newspaper) pages on Wednesday, July 30th while we update the CONTENTdm production server from version 6.5 to version 6.8. This means that the Digital Collections may be temporarily unavailable on July 30th. We plan to have all services restored Thursday, July 31st. Thank you for your patience.
At the 6200 South Pump Station, water from the East Jordan Canal Extension is pumped approximately one mile uphill to the Cottonwood Corporate Center at 2950 East, enabling the Salt Lake City Department of Public Utilities to meet exchange agreements with irrigators higher in the benches who have rights to Big Cottonwood Creek water. The city exchanges its lower quality Utah Lake water, still usable for irrigation, for irrigators' higher quality Big Cottonwood Creek water, that then can be treated for culinary purposes.
