Description Dr Gebhardt was born in Jackson, California in 1905. Dr Gebhardt received his A.B. (1929), M.A. (1934), Ph.D. (1937) and M.D. (1942) from Stanford University. Dr Gebhardt was Research Associate (1937-1941) and Acting Assistant Professor (1941-1942) at Stanford University. Dr Gebhardt came to the University in 1942 as Associate Professor. Dr Gebhardt was named Professor and Head of the Department of Bacteriology in 1943, serving in that capacity until 1971. Dr Gebhardt retired in 1974. Dr Gebhardt died in 1985. The bust of Dr Gephardt was sculpted by medical student Grant R. Fairbanks (Class of '64).
