Description Dr Reemtsma was born in Madera, California in 1925. Dr Reemtsma received his B.S from Idaho State University in 1948 and his M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1949. Dr Reemtsma completed his internship and residency at Presbyterian Hospital, New York from 1950-1957. Dr Reemtsma was Assistant Professor at the School of Medicine at Tulane University from 1957-1962. Dr Reemtsma was Associate Professor of Surgery at the University from 1962-1966. Dr Reetsma became Professor and Head of the Department of Surgery in 1966. Dr Reemtsma left the University in 1977 to become Professor of Surgery and Chair of the Department at the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University where he remained until 1994. Dr Reemtsma's area of research was in transplantation and cardiovascular surgery. Dr Reemtsma died in 2000.
