Description Dr Hecht was born in Basel, Switzerland in 1913. Dr Hecht received his M.D. from the University of Berlin in 1936. Dr Hecht received his M.S. from the University of Michigan in 1942 where he was also a Research Assistant in cardiology. Dr Hecht received an additional M.D. from the University of Utah in 1946. Dr Hecht was Resident and Clinical Instructor in Medicine at Wayne State University from 1942-1944, Dr Hecht came to the University as Instructor at the School of Medicine at the University (1944-1946). Dr Hecht was Assistant Professor (1946-1950); Associate Professor (1950-1958) and Professor of Medicine (1958-1964). Dr Hecht was Viko Professor of Cardiology (957-1964).Dr Hecht was Chair of Cardiology from 1944-1964. Dr Hecht left the University in 1964 to become Professor of Medicine and Physiology and Chair of the Department of Cardiology at the University of Chicago. Dr Hecht died in 1971.
