Description Dr Burdette was born in 1915. Dr Burdette earned his B.A. (1935), M.S. (1936) and began his medical studies (1938) at Baylor University. Dr Burdette completed an additional M.S. and Ph.D. at the University of Texas. Dr Burdette completed his studies for his M.D. at Yale University in 1942. Dr Burdette was Professor and Chair of the Department of Surgery from 1957 to 1965. Dr Burdette served on the Surgeon General's committee that issued the 1964 landmark report linking smoking with cancer and cardiovascular disease. Dr Burdette died in 2006.
