Description |
Folks probably thought this hay would topple over with a hard wind but in the early days of stacking hay this derrick was able to life the slip with hay loaded on it high up onto the stack and the way it was placed knit the stack together to protect it from water and wind. These stacks looked like large loaves of bread setting in the field or the stack yard. The Oakley family from Jensen, Utah, spent many years stacking their hay into these stacks. Photo found on page 407 in the Jensen Utah Book and on disc 64 in the RHC. |
