Description This was the Snyder Homestead at Wendella, Utah. The Uintah Railway waiting for the water to be loaded at the Wendella. Wendella was rather small, but it was an important station on the Uintah Railway. Built in the broad valley floor just below McAndrews Lake, it was the perfect spot for a reversing wye. The Shay geared engins based at Atchee, operated over Baxter Pass and turned around here on the wye for the 5.0 percent grade, to return over the pass. A small number of ranchers lived in the area and eventuall there were enough children to justify a small school. This situation lasted for a few years, utilizing a former Wendella saloon. The railroad maintained a telegraph booth and a water tank. Their tank was of great importance, as it provided water for Dragon, Watson, and Rainbow, via the Uintah Railway, which hauled two or three water tankcars each day.
