This year's meeting was very successful and the attendance excellent including 1,500 surgeons representing 42 nations. According to the new arrangements, the following topics were fixed in advance and the speaker and those taking part in the discussions were officially appointed. Those are listed here below and specific topics include: theories of surgery, portal hypertension, complications after post-operative thrombosis, internal spontaneous biliary fistulae, transplantations of vessels, the surgery of the sympathetic system related to vascular diseases of the brain, the resection of tuberculous lung, the future of cavity after pneumonectomy, the extracorporeal circulation for the surgery of heart cavities, post-operative disease and ACTH, French surgery, intratracheal narcosis, thoracic and vascular surgery, intramedullary nailing operations, removal of genital glands in cases of cancer of prostate or breast, mitral stenosis, bone fractures and Hryntschak's prostatectomy.
