In this paper we present our experience with 787 operations on the biliary tree. Out of these cases, 6% are cancer and 3.70% (are) hydatid cyst of the liver. Exploration of the CBD was done in 25% of the cases of cholelithiasis, and in 50.60% stones were found. We also include 36 re-operated cases, 20 with stones in the common bile duct, 11 with sphincter stenosis, and 5 with traumatic stenosis of the common bile duct. We managed to examine 132 of these patients, and with surprise we found the best results with the patients who had exploration of the common bile duct. In 7 patients with acalculus cholecystitis, cholecystectomy improved and diminished the symptoms but not as much as we expected. Results are quite good and the mortality low.
