Description In my three years of experience as a nursing home social worker and now a nursing home administrator, it has always been difficult to help families and residents understand the Medicaid application process. The primary purpose of this project is to make the Medicaid application process more user friendly for those residents and family members who are already in or considering nursing home placement. This will be done through developing a handbook with clear, easily understandable information about available resources, how to apply, and step-by-step instructions on how to fill out the application. Also, this handbook will help the applicant understand how the Medicaid system works in the state of Utah for long term care residents.
