Knowledge engineering is the process of building and maintaining the knowledge base of an expert system. This research is focused on knowledge engineering process. This thesis analyzes the different intellectual task involved in creating completed frames in the hematology domain, which is part of the knowledge base of a medical expert system called Iliad. A hypothesis was made and tested to compare two kinds of frames in the knowledge base. The advantages and limitations of the various source of the knowledge base are analyzed.
