| Description |
Most of the known petroleum resources in the form of oil-impregnated in the United States occur in Utah. It is estimated that over ten billion barrels of petroleum occur in such deposits in the Uinta Basin alone (Ritzma, 1973; Campbell, 1975). Four deposits among the twenty identified in the Uinta basin contain at least 97% of the total estimated oil in place. The purpose of this proposed work is to more accurately define the petroleum resources of three of the deposits listed on table 1. In addition to improved data with regard to the resource base, the proposed work will provide the necessary data for estimation of overburden, innerburden and ore waste ration. Core drilling will also provide unweathered material for analyses of rock and bitumen properties and therefore provide data for assessment of the quality of the deposits. |
