Title Analyses of oil extracted from oil-impregnated sandstone deposits in Utah
Date 1972-01
Description This study, in progress from 1967 to 1970, is part of a systematic effort to find, map and sample Utah's oil-impregnated rock deposits. Samples were collected by ten individuals in field parties who examined oil-impregnated rock occurrences throughout the state. Samples 68-3A and 68-4A are from abandoned cores at a drill site; they were collected by Dr. Hellmut Doelling, Utah Geological and Mineralogical Survey economic geologist, in the course of uranium investigations. Oil extraction and assay and distillation analysis began in November 1967 and has continued as samples were obtained through 1970. Apparatus was housed in the Fuels Engineering Laboratory, University of Utah; analyses are supervised by Dr. Ralph E. Wood. The study will continue until representative samples from all known deposits are analyzed.
