Juanita Brooks provides interpretations of the historical relationships between and among Mormons, Indians, and Gentiles in Utah during the nineteenth century. Brooks discusses the economic circumstances that both influenced and resulted from relationships between Indians and whites. Brooks also analyzes the influence of Mormon doctrine on Mormon policy toward Indians.
