Description
A review of the present understanding of the mechanism of envenomation by cones is presented. The expanding applications of cone snail venom components in biomedical science are the degree to which the envenomation strategy may be shared by other venomous gastropod groups is explored based on a preliminary molecular phylogenetic analysis. Finally, some perspectives for the future are discussed.
