Description Motivation and comprehension were critical aspects of my action research project. This action research case study questioned "How does using an iPad in a small group setting affect students with learning disabilities engagement with the basal program?" And, "How does using Readers' Theater in a small group setting affect students with learning disabilities comprehension with the basal program?" My participants' included two 4th grade students who have specific learning disabilities. I conducted the study using the constructivism framework. I used interviews, questionnaires and surveys, and observations for my data collection procedure. My findings conclude that by using readers theater as a supplement to the basal program, students motivation and engagement increased. And by using the iPad as a source for information and visual recording, students were more engaged in their comprehension discussions and on task. Recommendations for the field include using readers' theater and iPads in the classroom. On a district level, I suggest specialist's research additional information and create hands-on professional development modeling the efficacy of these strategies. School boards also need to provide funding for classroom devices and professional development for our schools and districts.
