Study Abroad Re-Entry: Critical Reflection Through Digital Storytelling

Update Item Information
Title Study Abroad Re-Entry: Critical Reflection Through Digital Storytelling
Creator Brittney Todd
Subject MACL
Description This project used digital stories as a medium for critical reflection during re-entry from a study abroad semester. The project provided three undergraduate students at Westminster College the resources, guidance, and support to reflect on their study abroad experience via the creation of digital stories. Research asserts that reflection during study abroad re-entry is critical to ensuring learning outcomes and this project demonstrates that returnees have a strong desire to reflect on their study abroad experiences. It also demonstrates that using digital stories as a medium for reflection is beneficial because returnees are able to use photographs and their own voice to talk about their experiences. Finally, this project suggests that critical reflection during re-entry would be more effective if incorporated into a designated course.
