Title Creating a Volunteer Manual for the Family Support Center
Creator Winter Brieann Morse
Subject MACL
Description The purpose of this paper is to act as a guide for others creating volunteer manuals for non-profit organizations, as well as to provide a manual for the Family Support Center (FSC). Section one will help manual writers understand how to identify missing links in an organization and guide them to literature that has already been conducted on this topic. The first part of this section, I describe my volunteer experience and how I identified the FSC needed a way to incorporate and train their volunteers. The second part is a literature review on how training volunteers would help incorporate them in the organization when working with children in crisis situations? The review covers topics, such as: how important volunteers are, how to best manage and communicate with them, and effective training strategies. In the third part I use my volunteering experience and the research to purpose a volunteer manual for the FSC. The second section of this paper will provide manual writers with an outline and strategies to use. The first part of this second section contains the FSC's volunteer manual. The manual is divided into five sections, one section for each area that needs volunteers, each section covers important aspects that either research showed was important to have in a manual or that the FSC wanted to included. The second part of this section I discuss what went well, what I struggled with and strategies I would use if I were to re-create this project.
