Description Through looking at the history of international development, specifically at structure within the last 20 years, international development structure has harmed developing countries, creating distrust and psychological obstacles for current international organizations working within developing countries. To understand the current roles within international development this project reviews a water project in Dera Ethiopia and its impact on the community. The inception of the water project took place within the local community and was managed by in country water bureaus with funding from international development organizations, which is a reverse of how international development was conducted 20 years ago. The water project was projected to be a one-year project and it is currently in year five. This paper examines how international development should be structured to conduct beneficial, sustainable and fair development based on historical and current international development practices.
