Title Energy Education in Institutions of Higher Learning
Creator Ian Wright
Subject MACL
Description This thesis argues the need for energy education training in institutions of higher learning. Research was conducted using two approaches: first, from the study and analysis of academic literature; second, from the design and implementation of an energy education program conducted at Utah State University College of Eastern Utah. The findings indicate that there is a definite disconnect in the education of college and university students on the basics of sustainable energy behaviors and technologies. Thesis findings were then used in the development of an energy education training manual development for future energy education programs targeted at college students living in on-campus housing. The desired outcome of this thesis is to develop a culture of sustainability on campuses of colleges and universities in a concerted effort to create more energy-conscious future professionals - no matter the field and career path that they choose to follow.
