Description The purpose of this action research project is to discover specific design strategies that could improve corporate web-based training for all learners. Since many different learners participate in the same web-based training courses, a collection of e-learning best practices for designers, employers, and employees is critical to help all employees learn and keep web-based training cost-effective for employers. This study focuses on objective and practical solutions and operates from a cognitivist framework. Data gathered from interviews with industry experts, web-based training artifacts, and survey responses show the need for differentiation in e-learning courses and a focus on the employees taking these courses. There are many good strategies in implementing webbased training: scenarios, gamification, and effective storytelling to name a few, but ultimately, designers should consider the wants and needs of the employees. Much of the current research focuses on improving technology but fails to connect the technology to human considerations.
