Creator Emmerson Michelle Yaxte
Subject MACL
Description This thesis contains the overview, methods, and related literature for a qualitative research study on the conceptions past Anytown Youth Leadership Retreat participants have of their experiences, and its contribution to their current beliefs, habits, and perceptions of discrimination and leadership. Hailed as a successful model for prejudice reduction and leadership development, Anytown utilizes experiential activities to create dialogue around social justice issues. Through interviews with past participants, this study explores how the theoretical framework, pedagogy, and academic foundation of Anytown Youth Leadership Retreat have influenced the participants current conceptions of prejudice and leadership, given that all participants have not volunteered with the Inclusion Center since attending Anytown, at least five years ago. As a result, this study presents the lasting lessons and themes internalized by participants since attending Anytown.
