Content Description +/-

This collection consists of 6 issues of the newsletter Connections : a newsletter for friends of Westminster College, published annually between 1996 and 2001 by the Office of Communications, Westminster College, Salt Lake City, Utah.

The newsletters contain similar content with changing layouts from issue to issue. Each publication, with the exception of the first, contains a synopsis of the events of that year's graduation ceremony. The newsletter was begun at the beginning of Dr. Peggy Stock's term as president of Westminster College as part of an effort to reach alumni and benefactors of the college.

The first issue, dated Fall 1996, is identified as the "Inaugural Edition." Its publication describes the inauguration of Westminster College's fifteenth president, Dr. Peggy Stock. The main article in the newsletter was written by Dana Tumpowsky, director of Westminster College Public Relations, and is a summary of the inaugural ceremony's proceedings from the campus festivities with the students in the Shaw Center on October 17, 1996, to the inaugural ceremony in the State Capitol Building the next day, and the celebratory ball conducted 2 days later on the evening of October 19.

The second issue, dated Summer 1997, is devoted entirely with the graduating class of 1997 including extensive photographs. The third newsletter, dated Summer 1998, contains a similar synopsis of the 1998 graduating class.

The Summer 1999 newsletter marks a change in the layout from booklet form to a four-page fold-out version. One side of the unfolded publication has a montage of photos from that year's graduation, as well as a synopsis similar to those found on the first pages of the previous two editions

The Summer 2000 edition of Connections is identical to the 1999 issue in design and again spotlights the year's graduation class. The final issue, Summer 2001, is a four-page accordion-fold newsletter, as with the two previous issues. The newsletter concludes with the "2001 Recognition Awards" report, similar in content to the previous years' sections. This is the final edition of the publication, as it ended with Dr. Stock's resignation as president.
